pop culture inhalers

If you think these look too good to be true, you’re right. The pop culture-inspired inhalers are part of an elaborate prank by the Yes Labs-schooled advocacy group, Coal Kills Kids, on Peabody Energy, the largest private coal company in the world. The website, Coal Cares, almost looks like it could be Peabody. Check out the brilliance:
The Coal CaresPuff-Puff™ line of free novelty-themed inhalers—from “My First Inhaler,” to “Twilight,” to “the Bieber” and beyond—will transform the inhaler into a cool, fun, stylish accessory for asthmatic children of any age. Thanks to Peabody, pulmonarily-challenged youngsters will now be able to tell uncaring bullies to “suck it.”
Predictably, Peabody was not amused. I, however, am highly amused. My whole family uses inhalers. I’ve got a little niece and nephew who both need inhalers, and I think the “Dora the Explorer” and “Punk/Emo” models would be great for them. Maybe Coal Cares could expand its current adult offerings and brand a NY Yankees inhaler for my dad.
I can’t help claiming a bit of trendspotting here, as I did declare via twitpic that inhalers would be the next canvas in December of 2010. Also, anybody with an Internet already knows that Miley Cyrus likes inhaling. In related news, unfortunately, The Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrush is not a spoof.
